17 July 2003: To Do list for SREhttp/2 The following are features and addons that we are considering adding to SREhttp/2. Some of these features are available in the original SREhttp (for GoServe). Name: GOSWISH update Implementation: being worked on now Discussion: Create a SREhttp/2 interface to GoSwish that will facilitate creation and updates of GoSwish indices. This will be able to handle indices for several hosts. Name: PHP support Implementation: soon Discussion: Using an available PHP interpreter for OS/2, add PHP support to SREhttp/2. Name: bug fix Implementation: soon Discussion: The host-name configurator seems to leave out a value for the superceding: field. This seems to happen when changing (by removing and then specifying) a host Name: configuration shortcuts Implementation: ongoing Discussion: We've included several configuration shortcuts. If there is one that would make a lot of sense, please ask. Name: Port SREhttp addons Implementation: ongoing Discussion: Most that we intend to do are done. BBS and FORUM will be done if we get explicit requests. Let us know if there is one you really want that we've missed! Name: Built-in SREhttp addon support Implementation: none planned Discussion: SREhttp/2's implementation of addons is different from SREhttp (for-Goserve). Hence, SREhttp addons must be rewritten (though often not extensively) if they are to be used with SREhttp/2. It might be useful to create some porting tools, but at this point my opinion is that is more trouble then it is worth. Tell me if I'm wrong! Name: hit metering Implementation: none-planned Hit metering is a method of counting hits that are resolved by downstream proxies. It doesn't seem to be used much. Name: ByBrowsr and ByClient Implementation: none planned Discussion: ByBrowsr and ByClient were SREhttp utilities that facilitiated server-side customization of responses, using browser-specific information or client-specific information. They weren't used much, especially with the advent of javascript, etc. If you have a particular interest in a listed "todo" item, or have some other great ideas, please contact us at danielh@crosslink.net
